Smith was raised in New Orleans, where he attended Xavier University of Louisiana, there he majored in Mass Communications/Marketing. Upon graduation, his practical education continued at WWL-TV a local CBS affiliate. There he shot news and promotional photography for a while and then decided to reach for the next level. He applied and was accepted to the American Film Institute. As a cinematographer, Smith has worked on a variety of projects in, including A-Cam Operator on "Fallen", a film produced by Turner Pictures which starred Denial Washington and "Any Given Sunday" in which Smith worked as an Additional Director of Photography. He mentored under Robert Richardson, ASC,; (JFK, Natural Born Killers, A Few Good Men, Kill Bill). He has recently completed principle photography on "Hair Show", a film starring Monique of "The Parkers", which was produced by Magic Johnson Entertainment. He is currently preparing re-shoots on "Playmaker"; a feature length film directed Peter Bunche, starring Boris Kodjoe. The "football" film was set in New Orleans. |
