Sound Recording Investor Tax Credit
25% rebate for investments in a recording of music, poetry, or spoken-word performance made in Louisiana, in whole or in part. The term sound recording shall not include the audio portions of dialogue or words spoken and recorded as part of television news coverage or athletic events.

Get Money Back For Recording in Louisiana
The Louisiana Sound Recording Investor Tax Credit was created with the entertainment industry in mind.  Much like
Louisiana’s highly successful film program, the Sound Recording incentive is designed to boost record production in the state by reducing the cost of making new master music recordings, whether distributed on a CD, as a digital download - or as part of the score or soundtrack for a film, TV/radio commercial or videogame.

Tax Refunds Reduce Your Bottom Line
The state of Louisiana is helping grow the music and sound recording industry through a rebate program for people or
companies investing in production.  More money expended in the state to record music yields a larger rebate - even in the investor doesn’t live in the state of Louisiana.

For investors in sound recordings, the Louisiana Department of Revenue will rebate 25% of the qualified investment.  This includes companies or individuals based in or outside of Louisiana.

Minimum $15,000 Investment
To qualify for the Sound Recording Investor Tax Credits, applicants must spend at least $15,000 in a 12 month period on recording costs approved and verified by the State of Louisiana.  Only expenditures made after advance notification to LED will qualify. The advance notification requirement is fulfilled when you submit a sound recording application via email, via fax, by mail, or in person at 1051 North Third Street, Baton Rouge, LA 70802 in the Office of Entertainment Industry Development.
